Billy Sunday

Played by David Burke

A national phenomenon for decades—first as a base-stealer for the Chicago White Stockings and now as a Gospel preacher—Billy Sunday uses every ounce of his formidable energy to point sinners to Jesus Christ while he works to save the country from the threat of alcoholism. Less acrobatic than in his younger days, Billy Sunday still enthusiastically insists that every human soul—including his own boys—must come to Christ for himself.

David Burke

David Burke says he’s been blessed by Billy Sunday’s testimony for years, ever since he memorized it and presented it in area churches more than 20 years ago. Playing Billy Sunday in Milltown Pride has given him the chance to come back to an amazing character. As both the screenwriter and an actor in the film, David has the unique position of seeing his words come to life and of playing a role he’s written.

“Nothing’s ever exactly like you envision it, but some things are more delightful than I ever imagined.”
